Meeting Minutes from 3/2

First let me say, I am sorry for taking so long getting this up. I’ve had to travel for work…a lot. Summer should slow down (at work) and disc golf is going to pick up the pace. Now on to business.

For the new members, our meetings are very informal, usually meeting over dinner and no voting really happens just discussion. Voting is reserved for topics where there is no clear consensus. That said, this meeting was highly productive and we discussed several topics.

1. Club dues – $20 dollars is to much, however, the club can not fund everything. Dues were changed to $10, and members agreed to pay more out of pocket for expenses that they want to participate in, i.e. Shirts, Tourneys, Discs, Fundraisers.

2. Club Shirts – the goal is to have a dry fit t-shirt with club logo and 3 to 10 sponsors on the back. Members who want a shirt will only need to pay “club cost” for the shirts. These are especially nice to wear to local and regional tournaments during the summer months. We need to meet a minimum order, most places require 7 – 10 shirts as a minimum. Robey will be responsible for the design the shirt, bidding out the cost, and placing the order. If you are interested in getting a shirt, please let him know what size you need, the t-shirt order will likely be placed in May.

3. Club Discs – Robey (again) has gotten an Innova catalog. We’d like to order custom discs with the club logo on it. Minimum order is 50 discs, and Robey will pay for them out of pocket. The discs will be used for fund raising purposes and extras will be posted up for sale. Again, if you are interested in a specific disc from innova, let Robey know so he can order it for you. Which disc/plastic you want will depend on the cost, any presales will only be charged the cost of the disc. Fund raising will be left to the extras left over donated by Robey.

4. Weekly Minis and/or Monthlies – We are looking for somebody to run these this year, Hunter/Kyle we are looking at you. Jeff is to busy and out of pocket lately. As the weather gets nicer, we will begin the summer season. As a correction of errors, we would like to see at least a monthly schedule posted and who is the “director” for that week. If the “director” has something come up then, either he needs to find a replacement or a pre-designated “second-in-command” to run the weekly.

5. NWA Naturals Disc Golf Night – Several things need to happen here. First, the date selected was September 1st so A. it gives us plenty of time to prepare and B. it is a Thirsty-Thursday at the park. Next, this is a ticket selling fundraiser. We need to sell 100 tickets to be eligible for the fundraiser. If we sell 100 – 199 tickets we get $3 back from every ticket sold. If we sell 200 or more we get $4 back from every ticket sold. During the game, we will be featured on the score board between innings, they will run pictures and video. We need pictures of everyone playing disc golf (preferably in your club shirts!) We also need video clips of people playing, these will be played during unexpected breaks, such as, a pitching change. Lastly, after the game we will be allowed to take portable baskets into the outfield and throw discs around. These are all the basic benefits for the club. There are also benefits for the highest ticket sellers, things like autographed baseballs/tours of the facility etc. etc. See Robey for more details.

6. $800 dollars from the NWA Naturals Disc Golf Night would make a nice payout for a “End of the Summer” (better name to be determined later) tournament. Everyone start thinking about possible sponsors for an event to come. Let them know we have advertising space available on our shirts too!

7. Contact List – we are still trying to collect info from everyone, there were quite a few “regulars” absent from the last meeting. Right now the Facebook Page seems to be the best way to get a hold of everyone. If you are not a fan, well… fan it up.

Thanks to everyone who attended for a great meeting. Looking forward to the next one, April 13th. The location is yet to be determined and we will notify everyone as best we can as it gets closer to time.
